A project that began nearly a year ago, Terry Bozzio’s art collection [RHYTHM]+[SKETCH] is a career first. Having worked with ink on paper for many years, Bozzio had never created or publicly released artwork until now.
Working with creative team SceneFour, Bozzio laid the groundwork for the collection through the new medium of rhythm-on-canvas. Like a painter using brushes with oils of different colors, Bozzio utilized a wide range of lighted drumsticks to build the artwork featured in the collection. Following the capture, an extensive process of working with the imagery is employed to bring forth the abstract nature of the rhythmic visual.
In addition to the rhythmic visuals, a number of pieces in the collection are fused with Bozzio’s sketches created over the last three decades. The result is a remarkable and cohesive aesthetic that features abstract imagery (Mayumi Sees the Heart, Bonn, and Liquid Chaos), as well as several portrait-based pieces (Miles, Self Portrait in Motion, and Zappa).
